New York Fashion Week Review
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses
New York Fashion Week is in full swing in Bryant Park, with celebrity designers like Marc Jacobs, Oscar de le Renta, Rodriguez, Donna Karan and more from around the world converging to debut their designs and absorb other designer’s creativity. What was revealing this season, and unlike years previous, was the amount of attention to accessories like belts, sunglasses, purses and shoes. With the economicdownturn still in effect, consumers are buying name-brand accessories rather than entire outfits, forcing designers to focus on the often-overlooked genre of fashion.
Marc Jacobs debuted stunning sunglasses in his 2010 line, thick, full-bodied and unique to go along with his ruffle themed designs. From angelic to modern and flashy, Marc Jacobs seems to have captured a design for everyone, from every angle. His designs are surely going to appear in retail stores, albeit remade and subdued, soon.
With accessory sales on the rise, and clothing sales on the wane, designers are paying ever more attention to detail. The world’s premiere designers are accessorizing in a major way this year, and not with purses, which was the traditional accessory of choice of yesteryear. This year the biggest accessory is large hair and large sunglasses. Get the look by cashing in on these fashion trends early. Marc Jacobs sunglasses are in, as are Alexander McQueen and Versace. The bigger the better, and the more unique the more fashion-friendly this season. An interpreted view of the clothing designs presented during fashion week conclude that big is back in style. Big hair, big sunglasses, larger-than-life style with ruffles, bows, frills and layers galore will all be present in fashion designs this season and for 2010.
