The Harry Potter book series has sold more copies than any other recently-released book. The films have also done amazingly well, for a children’s series. Harry, the main character, is characterized by his lightening-shaped scar and his round glasses. A style which was popular even before Harry’s time in the land of the moguls.

John Lennon, from the Beatles, was also an avid fan of the round glasses. In fact, with his ruffled hair and wry smile, Lennon and Harry have quite a few physical traits in common. It remains unclear if J.K Rowling used Lennon as her inspiration for the Potter character. Recently, Lennon’s gold rimmed Potter-like glasses went up for auction and fetched a ridiculous sum, proving that the style is still as hip as the Beatles themselves were.

Bono, seen in Paris in early 2008 in Paul Smith very Harry Potter-like shades, has also adopted the million pound look. If you can imagine him with longer hair, he would be the splitting image of Potter as an adult.

We recently discovered that one of the Olsen twins (who can tell the difference?) was seen at an awards ceremony in round shades, a look that surprisingly suited her face shape. We propose that Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter actor) and one (or both) of the Olsen twins team up for a brother-sister superhero film wherein they both wear the classic round eyewear.

With round eyewear back in style, be forewarned that not all facial shapes can handle rounded frames. While Lennon, Potter and Olsen look good in the style, Bono and Paris Hilton do not.
