Green: The Color of Autumn
Filed Under Designer Eyeglasses, Uncategorized | View Comments
Everyone is going green these days, and not just because of the environment. We’re talking green fashion. Not your neon, childish hues, but the soft, olive drab green or the very European Ikea green-yellow that is the color of young grass in hot summer. Green accessories like the sexy Ralph Lauren olive eyeglasses, are especially popular this autumn, as are bracelets in different shades of green, and even green make-up.
They say geniuses choose green, but more than that, it’s the color of extreme calm, comfort and of course nature. Psychiatrists decorate their offices in shades of green, and hospitals are often slathered in green. It’s no coincidence that emergency room clothing is green. And uncomfortable situations are always shrouded in shades of green. Dental smocks, toothpaste, thread for stitches, etc. The inverse of green is used to induce the opposite emotional stirrings. Red is used to acknowledge danger, alarm, authority and attention- the opposite of the calming effects of green. Perhaps all of these things combines are why green is so popular after a year of extreme global turmoil and financial difficulty.
Some of the best ways to wear green include accessories, obviously, but you’ll also find shades of green appropriate for major clothing items like jackets and shoes. Green pants don’t look natural, they make people think of upside down trees. Which confuses the brain and thus not many can pull of green on the bottom half. Most bottoms halves need to be heavier than the top to provide a foundation for color. Blacks, blues, browns and tans accomplish this.

How Global Warming is going to Affect your Vision
Filed Under Brand Wave, Celebrities & Eyewear, Designer Sunglasses, Uncategorized | View Comments
With global warming and the increasingly harmful rays getting through the depleted ozone layer, sunglasses will become more important than ever. Have you ever noticed how every post-apocalyptic film has the main character in a snazzy but dark-tinted pair of sunglasses?– example: Denzel Washington in Book of Eli with his polarized Oakley inmate sunglasses.
The future is depicted this way for a reason. With the hole in the ozone over the South Pole combined with the increase in global warming and methane off-put, we’re looking at a planet with an increase in solar light penetration. UV rays are already harmful, and increased exposure to the sun’s harmful rays by an unprotected eye can result in severe and lasting retina damage.
Increases in UV penetration are a scientific fact. Luckily, even if you are on the fence about global warming you can agree that sunglasses are an easy, low-cost and efficient way to protect yourself from the UV rays, whether you think they are increasing in frequency and strength or not.
Fashion has embraced health in an amazing way. Sunglasses are now one of the most prime and integral aspects of a complete wardrobe, especially a well put together one. You can find sunglasses at every budget and in nearly every style. From retro sunglasses by Alexander McQueen to high end shades by Jimmy Choo. You can find everyday sunnies by Nike or MiuMiu and elite sunnies by Versace and Prada. Regardless of your style, the perfect pair is out there for you leaving you literally no excuse not to protect your vision.

Versace vs. Prada
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Uncategorized | View Comments
Many have wondered yet few have dared to compare two of fashion’s hottest brands, Prada versus Versace. Let’s compare the two giants and see which comes ahead in terms of design, innovation, creativity and utility. In the end with this, as with all of fashion, beauty isn’t a science, its an art and remains relative to the viewer.
In terms of utility, thirdly, both brands compete equally. While Prada’s handbags are useful and chic, Versace has several collections that Prada misses out own, making them a more useful overall brand. Meanwhile, both companies focus on useful items, like clothing, bags and sunglasses and shoes, all essentials. I’d call round three a tie.
Whether you prefer Prada’s somewhat predictable fashion or Versace’s creative and broad range of designs is a personal choice. With Prada you know what to expect and can purchase any item without the general underling design altering too much. Versace, on the other hand, is a risk. If your personality supports risk taking that often pays off, than perhaps Versace is the brand for you.

Prada Makes Waves

Finding a look that works for every face and sense of style may seem like an impossibility, but that is exactly what Prada seems to be attempting. Not content to reside as second best to any fashion company, especially in the eyewear and accessories branches, Prada has launched fresh campaigns to take over the accessory market.
After the success of the film, Prada launched several new lines for men and women, with a subtle new focus on accessories almost as subtly as the designs themselves. There were billboards in high-spending areas in major cities around the world, as well as magazine ads, newspaper coverage and of course the feature-length exposés of celebrities in the latest Prada lines. Will this massive campaign pay off, or will Prada remain an equal contender for fashion’s top spot?

Earth-Friendly Fashion

Being green is fashionable at present, and nothing is more fashionable than keeping up with the environmental trends. Erasing or easing your carbon footprint is becoming more mainstream than fanatical, and everyone is trying to do more to protect the planet long-term. How can you do your part without sacrificing fashion? Here are a few simple steps to go from Dior chic to adorably proactive.
Keeping track of your carbon points is one way to stay active and aware of what you consume and how it effects the planet. However, this doesn’t really help to eliminate your consumption, it only makes people more aware of what they consume. Instead, try to consume less of the more toxic and harmful things, like plastics and red meat. Plastics take a long time to decompose, more than metal even, and cows are responsible for a large percentage of global warming due to their emissions. (On a side note, studies have proven that red meat isn’t extremely healthy to eat, anyway!). These two simple steps are already helping a great deal, and make you more fashionable simply in their simplicity.

Bright Fashion for Intelligent Women
Filed Under Uncategorized | View Comments
Many women are faced with a dilemma. Glasses can make you look prudish or old, while going without them can make you appear vain or un-intellectual. So, what are some possible solutions to get high Versace-like fashion without compromising your status as an intellectual and mentally stimulating woman? We’ll tell you how to take a few simple steps that will give you cutting-edge fashion without raising eyebrows in the office, library or wherever you normally hang out.
First, you’ll want to find a style of eyewear that fits your personality and life habits. Even if you love pictures of beautiful women in horn-rimmed glasses, the look just might not work on you. First lets consider what shapes fit your face. Next, think about what colors you naturally look more vibrant and alive in. For many brunettes, that color is red. For many blondes, orange and blue do the trick. For darker skin, avoid whites or black and stick with colours and pastels. Especially when it comes to eyewear. Finally, think about what the eyewear will say about you. If your entire wardrobe is vintage or haphazard, suddenly wearing designer Prada eyeglasses may seem odd to your colleagues. Instead, slowly transition into higher style with a new addition here or then, and culminate with the eyeglasses as they are the number one most noticeable thing about your wardrobe.
Finally, don’t compromise who you are, or your intellect and feminine intelligence in favour of fashion. Fashion will come and go, but great minds linger forever. If looking good is important to you, find a way to do it without changing your lifestyle. Respect yourself and your appearance and that will help you naturally make better fashion decisions.

Sporty Sunglasses can be Sexy
Filed Under Uncategorized | View Comments
Most women wouldn’t want to be caught dead in sporty sunglasses. They make you look very 1980s, very unfashionable and very cheap. Why do sporty sunglasses make people think of noisy windbreakers and perspiration? Katy Perry showed up looking astonishing in a very strange fashion choice—Louis Vuitton’s Steven Sprouse tribute sunglasses (seen in image here). Released more than a year ago, the Sprouse sunglasses have not received a lot of fanfare, and for good reason. The neon nose and sidebars are a bit much for normal folks, and only someone as bold as Katy Perry can pull of a look so daring. But that isn’t to say that sporty eyewear can’t be sexy. Done right, they can offer an attractive alternative to the normally clunky non-active eyewear.
Oakley’s female collection has come a long way. No longer are women forced to wear neon colors and ridiculously masculine looking streamlined designs in order to have performance-enhancing sunglasses for all outdoor activities. While Oakley has worked on perfecting their fashion qualities, they are also improving in R&D for technological upgrades that continue to put Oakley sunglasses on any athlete’s dream wish list.
But for folks who want a bit more fashion then function, you might want to check out Bolle or Arnette sunglasses. They have a nice, snug athletic fit and yet nothing is compromised. They often lack that dull, black plastic look and feel that Oakleys and Nikes collections often characterize. Arnette is a bit more fashionable than Bolle, but the line has to be drawn somewhere for the perfect athletic eyewear that doesn’t sacrifice too much functionality and the winner just might be Bolle!

Creating a Fashion Persona
Filed Under Uncategorized | View Comments
Everyone knows that unless they create a memorable and unique persona for themselves, they will slip into obscurity without even a whimper. Creating a fashion-forward persona is not as easy as many think. Here are a few tips about accessorizing to stay memorable.
Go Red: Many psychologists have tackled the question of why people remember red more vividly than any other color. Red is the color of passion, the color of rage, love, lust and risk. A woman clad in red is more memorable and intoxicating, studies show, than the same beautiful woman in any other color. To be memorable and exciting, infuse your wardrobe with red. Prada makes several pairs of sunglasses with red hints that will accompany a red outfit without clashing or looking too planned.
Go Bold: Being bold means taking chances. Sometimes you will make a fashion leap of faith and fall short of glory, brush yourself off and try again. A real fashion trend setter makes mistakes, embraces them and moves on. This year, go as bold as you can with bigger frames, bolder colors and thicker lines. Think Alexander McQueen instead of Dior for prescription glasses, and really make a statement.
Go Quickly: A fashion diva knows that every day is a new chance to put your best foot forward and to take the chances with fashion that are necessary to reach greatness. Mix, match, clash and then do it all backwards. Rotate your wardrobe quickly and appear to change your style and look on a daily basis. Those who can adapt quickly in an ever-changing fashion world are sure to last.
