Most women wouldn’t want to be caught dead in sporty sunglasses. They make you look very 1980s, very unfashionable and very cheap. Why do sporty sunglasses make people think of noisy windbreakers and perspiration? Katy Perry showed up looking astonishing in a very strange fashion choice—Louis Vuitton’s Steven Sprouse tribute sunglasses (seen in image here). Released more than a year ago, the Sprouse sunglasses have not received a lot of fanfare, and for good reason. The neon nose and sidebars are a bit much for normal folks, and only someone as bold as Katy Perry can pull of a look so daring. But that isn’t to say that sporty eyewear can’t be sexy. Done right, they can offer an attractive alternative to the normally clunky non-active eyewear.

Oakley’s female collection has come a long way. No longer are women forced to wear neon colors and ridiculously masculine looking streamlined designs in order to have performance-enhancing sunglasses for all outdoor activities. While Oakley has worked on perfecting their fashion qualities, they are also improving in R&D for technological upgrades that continue to put Oakley sunglasses on any athlete’s dream wish list.

But for folks who want a bit more fashion then function, you might want to check out Bolle or Arnette sunglasses. They have a nice, snug athletic fit and yet nothing is compromised. They often lack that dull, black plastic look and feel that Oakleys and Nikes collections often characterize. Arnette is a bit more fashionable than Bolle, but the line has to be drawn somewhere for the perfect athletic eyewear that doesn’t sacrifice too much functionality and the winner just might be Bolle!

uk0918.JPGEveryone knows that unless they create a memorable and unique persona for themselves, they will slip into obscurity without even a whimper. Creating a fashion-forward persona is not as easy as many think. Here are a few tips about accessorizing to stay memorable.

Go Red: Many psychologists have tackled the question of why people remember red more vividly than any other color. Red is the color of passion, the color of rage, love, lust and risk. A woman clad in red is more memorable and intoxicating, studies show, than the same beautiful woman in any other color. To be memorable and exciting, infuse your wardrobe with red. Prada makes several pairs of sunglasses with red hints that will accompany a red outfit without clashing or looking too planned.

Go Bold: Being bold means taking chances. Sometimes you will make a fashion leap of faith and fall short of glory, brush yourself off and try again. A real fashion trend setter makes mistakes, embraces them and moves on. This year, go as bold as you can with bigger frames, bolder colors and thicker lines. Think Alexander McQueen instead of Dior for prescription glasses, and really make a statement.

Go Quickly: A fashion diva knows that every day is a new chance to put your best foot forward and to take the chances with fashion that are necessary to reach greatness. Mix, match, clash and then do it all backwards. Rotate your wardrobe quickly and appear to change your style and look on a daily basis. Those who can adapt quickly in an ever-changing fashion world are sure to last.
