Dry skin, dry eyes, dry everything. That basically describes winter’s main effects on the body. Not to mention the soul. You’ll find that when winter is in full swing wearing contacts can be downright miserable. So, are here solutions for keeping your eyes moist and plump or will they shrivel to raisins in your skull if you wear contact lenses?
The simple answer is that glasses are simply smarter in winter, and contact lenses should be avoided in excessively dry weather. Still, if you have an important function and don’t want to be spectacled for the occasion, you may need to wear contacts after all. If this is your situation than you’ll need to get hydrating contacts that infuse your eyes with doses of moisture and are breathable. This technology costs a bit more, naturally, but unless you want red eyes that you have to scratch and claw at like a deranged person than you’ll splurge for the hydrating lenses.
There are a lot of benefits to wearing glasses over contact lenses. Some studied show that excessive contact wearing can erode your eyes, and will, over time, cause them to decay at a faster rate than if you were wearing spectacles. There is also the added risk of transmitting germs and bacteria via the lenses.
Meanwhile, glasses don’t have the added risks, and if you have your eyes properly checked every year you’re sure to have the perfect prescription for your sight, making it a healthy accessory to have, one that can, over time, keep your eyes from worsening.

There are only a few fashion trends that really work in winter. Some of them work on different body types and fail on others. Fuzzy hats are one such example. These look great on thin women, and horrible and overweight ones. In the same way, Prada are great for winter for brunettes, but make blondes look washed out and a bit dry skinned. This is a real shame because they are a great brand, but you can get similar fashion without the dark hues with brands like Dior and MiuMiu.
Fuzzy boots are another such fashion mistake. On the inverse, however, if you can manage to wear tight pants, then bigger boots and jackets make you look slimmer, as they seem to mock a weightiness that doesn’t exist, making you look both humble and sexy at the same time.
Some colors are better for winter than others, most obviously whites and grays should be avoided, contrary to popular belief, because they wash out the face and leave the impression of a heavy tiredness, which isn’t what most women want to project. And very few men.
One of the best ways to look fashionable in winter is to either do the clean slate look which is a small number of clothing items that have the effect of making you look put-together, organized, clean and fresh. Pastels work well for this look, and this goes well with the tight jeans and large boots/jacket look that Russian women excel at. The other option is to layer your clothing in fashionable colors so you are a virtual rainbow of both styles and color in the middle of the colorless season.

Deciding if you are going to dye your hair is a big step. There are a few things to consider. Will the new color look okay against your skin? Will it match your wardrobe? Your designer Ralph Lauren glasses? You don’t want to spend a fortune buying all new gear just because you changed your hair color. So, here are a few steps to help you decide if you should really go forward with dying your hair.

First, is the change drastic? If so, then you may have to consider all the points raised above. Clothing. Skin. Glasses. Even the makeup you wear may have to change if your hair color is going to change drastically. Blondes, for example, look better in softer colors, make up and more gentle accessories while brunettes and red heads look a bit sharper, more dangerous. You’ll want to play to your strengths. If you have sharp features black hair my draw them out in a negative way.

Second, consider the benefits. If this will boost your self esteem, or you’ll be living out a dream then go for it. Hair dye is temporary and you can always dye it back to your original coloring later if you dislike the change. As with all risks, there are huge rewards when you make the jump to abstraction. Like dying your hair red, blue or even green. If it’s a dream, go for it. Fashion is about being yourself in a creative, abstract way. That can be achieved through hair dye, too.

One of the most talented achievements in fashion is to find simplicity beautiful, and then to find a way to make your own fashionable look come across as natural and effortless. This is something that can take a lifetime to achieve. Many celebrities have teams of people working to make them look naturally beautiful. Prada or Dior, Versace or Tom Fords, there are whole groups debating what will look best before someone like Angelina Jolie steps out on the red carpet or out for a film debut. Julia Roberts is one of the few celebrities who can pull is off consistently, and always look fresh and unique.

Matching your hair to your sunglasses is extremely important. Yes, your skin color plays a huge part, but basically if you look good in a color normally it will likely look good in sunglasses form. Still, matching the sunglasses to your hair is harder. You don’t want to wear oversized sunglasses with a hairdo that reveals how big the frames are. It will make you look like a kid playing dress up.

The girl in the image here should not have her hair pulled back on one side, it reveals that the frames are too big for her head, giving the appearance of someone who is dressing up. And in fact she doesn’t look natural in the white jacket, either. But, the first shred of doubt emerges when you see the oversized shades. That’s how important it is to get the frames right and to match them to your hair. If she had but left her hair down on both sides she’d look more natural.

As with all things in the fashion world, different looks work for men than for women, and in fact there are very few brands that can carry both genders beautifully. Ray Bans happen to be one of the few brands to bridge the gap nicely. Tom Fords do likewise, but have specific models for men and for women, so it is slightly different. Still, knowing which brands work for your gender is essential to having a complete wardrobe.

For men, Police sunglasses, Serengeti, Carrera and even Tom Fords are great brands for masculine, fun and sporty dudes. For ladies, most of these brands are too bulky and have the result that they make women’s faces look childish, and the glasses too bulky to be sexy. Femininity is about understated beauty to bring out a natural glow. This can’t be achieved when a beautiful woman is wearing men’s sunglasses.

Most men wouldn’t pick up women’s frames anyways, but every once in a while you get someone who looks good in pink who is happy to wear women’s Dior frames to add a bit of color to their tennis getup. This is a great way to get attention, but it has very little to do with fashion.

So, buy glasses for your gender. They will fit better, look better and be proportional to your shape. Women’s frames are also a bit more colorful, fragile and womanly than men’s and thus add a bit of sex appeal. Meanwhile, the designs made for men add masculinity and sex appeal of an entirely different variety. Yes, they protect you from the sun, but making you look cool is the backup job of sunglasses.

Being sexy and being romantic are different things. To attract a certain kind of man sex appeal is all you need, but to keep a man you have to have real allure. Real romance. That is much more difficult to achieve. Romance means being conservative enough to look like a keeper and yet wild and sexy enough to be approachable. Miniskirts and belly shirts are out of the question, but you can still play around with leather and lace. Prada is a sexy look that says “I’m single” while Tom Fords are a look that suggest elegance and charm without being too sexy or too bland. That’s why so many celebrity big-wigs wear them.

Romance is thin, it’s slices of gold and silver temple bars, or thin strands of metal to simulate lace. Romance is feminine and yet unapologetic. It’s everything between sex and conservative that men need to feel comfortable and yet not too comfortable that they take your look for granted.

Some of the most fashionable and feminine eyewear on the market are made by Dior, who excel at lacy metal and sexy color schemes. Be careful of the designs that are too pink or too colorful. You want to have a look that is still natural enough to be the every woman and yet unique. All of these contradictions are hard to pull off, so keep practicing and you’ll eventually land on the look that works for you.

Remember, sex may sell, but you are not here to be bought. You’re here to be found and adored. Sex appeal is important in some situations but in most situations it’s romance and passion that make the balance for a perfect, feminine look.

If you do a photo search for hip-hop sunglasses the unendingly cool Kanye West comes up. You’ll see his sexy mug in everything from Carrera to Prada to Versace and Armni. This player gets around… in designer sunglasses brand circles that is. So is this hip hop star really the go-to for fashion in that genre? Possibly.

First, examine the shutter shade phenomenon that he started (or made explode). You remember those sunglasses with striped pieces of plastic instead of glass. Yeah, we didn’t thinkt hey were a good idea either. It’s like watching progress move backwards. Shutter shades were actually invented by Eskimos and other arctic folk who needed to shield their eyes or they’d get blinded by the reflection of the sun on ice. So, when Kanye stated wearing them and he wasn’t hiking to the North Pole it was a bit confusing.

Another thing that Kanye attempted was to make a tough guy like himself still look like a badass even if he was wearing childish, neon-colored sunglasses. This is what the 1980s was all about, but in the ‘80s everyone was doing it whereas when Kanye tried to bring it back it was a solo movement. A mission of one for one. Poor Kanye was all alone in his mission to bring back ‘80s fashion. Thankfully.

One think Kanye did well was to make the larger, more modern sunglasses okay or a man to wear. Sure, women can wear glitzy stuff but it wasn’t until Kanye started wearing whatever he wanted, despite the jewels and gold, that other men started to really wear jewelry sunglasses.

For the knights and counts among us, elegance matters. Appearances, unfortunately, have to matter. Anyone who works in the public eye knows that how you dress is analyzed on a constant basis. Apparently humans are an animal where primped feathers are key to attracting mates (and positive public opinions). Thus, when you look for elegance in eyewear you have to bypass the main obvious brands and head towards the designer brands that are less well know and yet, unique and elegant. Fendi is unique, but too wild. Versace is perhaps more up your elegant alley. It has charm and class without looking cheap or too wild. Versace is a great option for elegance any day of the week.

For fashion fans, Alexander McQueen is an awesome designer who, although deceased now, was obsessed with finding the perfect look to make women look their absolute best. He innovated a great deal in terms of women’s fashion, and this deserves some credit. For an elegant look, McQueen is a great design and yet, it isn’t too wild.

Another great casual brad is Bole. This women’s eyewear brand excels at being low key without being cheap or low quality. Instead, it manages to combine chill designs with accessibility in a manner that most high fashion labels can’t seem to grasp. Aka, they are available to those living off meager salaries and those living in high rises in Paris. Thus, Bolle, Alexander McQueen and Versace and Fendi are great brands for accessibility, design and culture.

Pinky rings in some places on this little blueberry of a planet means that the wearer has killed a man. Knowing this, I never mock a man in jewelry. I find that is the best policy. Some accessories (pinky ring aside) do fit men better than others. For example, if Harrison Ford was wearing a pearl necklace I doubt people would mock him, considering he is freakin’ Hans Solo and all. But we’d prefer to see him in nice Serengeti sunglasses and driving gloves with possibly one, but not two, earrings in simple diamond studs a la Kanye West. Another great accessory for men are cufflinks, which really add a lot and prove a man has attention to detail and is fashion focused (at least to the acceptable male level). Cufflinks are also another rare opportunity to spice up a suit. Women have so much variety while men’s suits are fairly limited to ties and cufflinks in terms of expression yourself. Ties are the traditional (sometimes overdone) method of expression while cufflinks are the more refined one. Especially given the wealth of information you can display with cufflinks, like a country flag, or military unit, or royal auto club logo and so on. You can even get custom-made cufflinks so you can have your wife or mistress’ face on them. Though that’d be tacky. Finally, men’s casual outfits can be innovated with shoes and wallets, though admittedly these are less exciting accessories than sunglasses and cufflinks. Getting something that is both creative and functional and yet not juvenile is difficult, but think unique and keep trying new things and your mandrobe will end up awesome.
