Women’s Dress-up Eyewear
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Eyeglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
Finding eyeglasses that match a dressy outfit is no easy feat, and finding something that is affordable, versatile, and designer can make that an extremely tall order. Fear not, we’re here to help and advise. For a night on the town, Prada eyeglasses are a sure bet. Don’t limit your Prada wear to sunglasses and handbags, their eyeglasses are top notch and add an extra touch of class to any dressy outfit. Try making your contact lenses give you fashion credit.
Versace, in a similar vein, is a great company for eyeglasses. You’ll often see Versace sunglasses and other accessories along with their impeccable clothing, but eyeglasses seem to hit the back burner for some reason. This surely isn’t a deserved occurrence. Take a few moments to look over the 2010 eyeglasses Versace line and you’ll be amazed at the versatility and charm of their men’s and women’s collections. Versace has, in no way, limited themselves to outdoor wear or sporting sunglasses, you’ll want to jump in on the prestige of wearing Versace indoors by nabbing their designer eyeglasses.
Unlike Versace and Prada, Nike is a well known company in the sporting world that has long attempted to segway into more high-brow fashion. The Nike label is already expensive and prestige, but that fame seems, at least for the time being, limited to the sporting world. This is unfortunate because Nike’s eyeglasses lines are sharp, innovative and fresh and offer something in the way of design and sleek, good-looks that other brands are failing to achieve.

How to Get Celebrity Style for Less
Filed Under Brand Wave, Celebrities & Eyewear, Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
Celebrities have tons of money and personal assistants whose sole job it is to help them look good on a daily basis. So how can a mere normal mortal reach the same fashion heights as a star? Well, with a little bit of observation and attention, the feat isn’t all that impossible. There are just a few simple lessons to learn and you’ll be on the way to celebrity style, for much less than a celebrity spends.
First, throw away everything you think you know about fashion. Looking good and looking in-style are different things entirely, what you want to aim for is a look that works for you, not a look that mimics Vogue. Think of your favorite celebrities, you don’t seem them all wearing the same things or even similar things, so don’t try to mimic anyone or even a general idea of what you think is in style. Instead, focus on yourself and make a list of your attributes. For example, the Olson twins have huge eyes, whey capitalize on this. Kirstern Dunst has a simple, small town look and she adds to that with her clothing choices. Jennifer Anniston has harsh, stark features that she hides with pastel clothing and layers clothes. Whatever your features, there is a good way to enhance or hide them through fashion as long as you don’t simply buy what Red Book says it hot.
Second, your money isn’t worth the designer products if they won’t look good on you. Instead of spending thousands on clothing, focus on a few simple but definite options like sunglasses. Find a pair that works for your features by experimenting with your options online before buying. Research is king, and this will pay off. Once you have a great, fitting hair style and sunglasses the rest will fall into place as you experiment.

Traditional Beauty Never Fades
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
Traditional fashion is always appealing, especially on days when you simply don’t feel like trying to make a statement with your fashion. Blending beautifully into the crowd and yet remaining elegant and timeless is an art very few can achieve. Jennifer Lopez managed to do just that in the timeless look of Tom Ford FT 0132 sunglasses paired with simple earrings and a natural wave in her brown hair. She looks like an adventurer on an elegant and wealthy safari. All of this can be achieved with simple adherence to traditional fashion and beauty. You don’t always have to follow the latest and greatest trends to be fashionable and the envy of your friends.
To get a similar look pay more attention to how your body is shaped, and spend some time figuring out what colors compliment your skin and hair tones. For Lopez, the brown on her sunglasses makes her rich brown hair stand out and her copper skin have more depth. Pairing it with another natural color, her green shirt, completes the image. Try for something similar by pulling out a few simple items from your closet and trying them on in front of a mirror. One color should stand out as the most complementary to your skin and hair color. For pale skin, reds and purples seem to be the most beautiful, while for darker skin oranges and blues give depth and charm. Next, spend some time defining your face shape, and then buy items that compliment your natural curves. For example, not everyone can pull of dangle earrings, they serve to lengthen the face so people with long faces should avoid them and get bulkier ones that expand the appearance of the face horizontally.

Switching Between Eyeglasses
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Eyeglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
For someone with bad eyesight, few things are more annoying on a constant basis than having to switch between glasses. I’ll have a nice pair of Prada sunglasses, but I can only wear them on days that I wear my Accuvue contact lenses. I didn’t think to buy sunglasses that fit my prescription (though that is entirely possible and indeed easy to do). On days when I wear my glasses for long distances, I usually end up having to drive, which means I can’t wear my sunglasses. Inevitably, I end up with a headache from squinting.
I personally have not tried the transition lenses that were so popular five years ago. I have heard rumors that they transition nicely to more light, but once outside and you enter a building they take quite a bit of time to adjust to darkness. Its just like when you come in the house after a day in the sun and its takes your eyes a few moments to adjust, only the transition lenses take several minutes. For that reason alone the popularity of transition lenses has waned in recent years. I’m willing to give it a try considering the alternatives.
Another option I’ve considered is laser surgery, but of all the people who go into to take the test, a startling few are actually good candidates. Even if you do pass the candidacy test, there are countless problems that can arise, and you must redo the surgery after several years and at present technology can only have the surgery a handful of times. For me, having a laser shot into my eye socket isn’t an option.
