Luxury has reached new heights of consolidation and class. With Mercedes Benz luxury eyewear designed specifically for high-performance driving, comfort and style, the road never looked so good. The range of diversity within the MB line proves that there is something for everyone in the luxurious appeal of Mercedes Benz. From women’s round classy and dark frames (all the fad in 2009) to men’s sleek, sheer and technologically advanced driver’s sunglasses, there is a design for every face-shape, style and fad.
Mercedes Benz MB554 3 wrap around shades are an innovative and sleek alternative for any serious Benz owner. The creative lines and temple bar branding make this a top pick in the 2009 collection. Made in Italy with acetate frames and polycarbonate lenses, the MB MM554 3 come with full packaging, a stylish glove-compartment case and, of course, UV protection and official certificate of authenticity and warranty. There are a plethora of other designs for serious drivers, including the traditional Pierce Brosnan styles, the Bond look and of course, the distinct edge of Sean Connery.
For the female adventure driver, the Mercedes Benz model MB 541 1 is a top pick from the 2009 collection. The dual tones make for an innovative and bold statement, but are subtle enough to remain classy and up-scale. The thicker temple bars and eye pieces are in style this year, as are clean lines, bold contrasts and subtle alterations. The simple design above the nose piece is a selling feature, and looks incredibly stunning against any brow. Though I would recommend these shades for blondes over brunettes, the silver and black variations would be equally as stunning on women with darker hair.
Whatever your features demand, Mercedes sunglasses have an elegant and classy pair of frames that will not only look elegant and modern, but will have the mark of a trusted and respected enterprise.

Eyewear in “RocknRolla”
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
The web is abuzz with quarries about the innovative and creative eyewear in the recently released film “RocknRolla”, directed by Guy Richie and starring Gerard Butler, Ludacris and others. Though similar in its twists and turns to Richie’s previous social commentary films like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barells, this film is different in that its message is one of modernity’s mishaps.
Mickey (Jeremy Piven) is of particular fan-fare, and forums across the web are asking about his mysterious eyewear. Throughout the film Piven wears D&G DD6031 shades that were custom fit with clear (prescription) lenses. You can get the same look with custom lenses, or by taking out the lenses all together (a surprisingly popular up-and-coming fad in Hollywood and abroad). You can get a similar look with the Burberry BE3001 frames, though these are not customizable.
Johnny Quid, played by Tony Kebbell, also wears a pair of innovative, large sunglasses throughout the film. Though unable to identify the exact make and model (likely custom Cazal’s) the closest comparables are made by Ray-Ban Caravans, though the temple bars are thinner here. Later in the film he wears vintage Cazal sunglasses (with pink and gold bars along the top) but these sunglasses are over 1000pounds and hard to come by.
The film, which is a commentary on progress, drugs, modernity and the modern man’s appetite for antiquity, is full of fashion trends made popular in recent years. Check out the clothing worn by the apparently depraved rocker (also a philosopher, ironically) and also the suits worn by Ludacris and innovative eyewear displayed throughout the film.

Five Steps to Finding the Perfect Spring Sunglasses
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses, Eyewear Knowledge | View Comments
With spring soon upon us, and leafless trees all around, the sun is in its most damaging season. Though spring is associated with life, growth and renewal, for the human-eye spring is one of the most harmful times. Sunglasses in the winter and spring are more important, ironically, than in summer because summer at least offers shade, and the constant heat that reminds you to cover your skin in SPF and your eyes in UV protection. As you shop for your next pair of spring sunglasses, be sure to keep a few important things in mind.
1) Though a fashion statement and a must-have accessory for your spring wardrobe, remember that first and foremost your sunglasses need to protect your eyes in order to keep you young, hip and wrinkle-free. Make UV protection a priority for your sunglasses. UV protection comes in any shade of lens, so it will not hinder the look of your sunglasses in any way.
2) Consider the advantages of lens coatings. Before we jump into fashion tips, here are a few pointers about lens coatings to help you choose the best for your eyes. For starters, scratch, smear and water resistant lenses are useful for athletes while anti-glare and polarization are useful for those often on the road.
3) Fit the frames to your face, don’t just follow the fad. All important in highest of fashion- accentuate your GOOD features. Check out this recent picture of Courtney Love in the latest sunglasses fad. Despite being “in style” Courtney is demonstrating that she knows little of fashion. Her blonde hair and oval face demand square frames, not round. Make sure to match your features to your shades to avoid a Courtney mishap.
4) When in doubt go name-brand. Name brand sunglasses are high-quality, recognizable and sure to impress. Whenever possible, go with a recognized or up-and-coming name.
5) Finally, Avoid add-ons to your sunglasses. Nothing says “trying too hard” more than sunglasses straps, clip on lenses or interchangeable frames.
Good luck, and remember these five steps this spring as you shop for your 2009 sunglasses.

David Beckham, the renowned football player from England, is the male model for the designer company Police. He started his career in sports when he was 17 and only gained fame (or infamy) when he became the most recognized football player in the world. He is married to Victoria, the ‘Posh’ spice girl– the perfect celebrity couple. Along with the fame from his sporting talents, David Beckham is also famous for his fashion sense. He is the kind of man that can pull off any look and make it appealing to the masses. He is known for his distinct ability to stand out in a crowd, especially when everyone else is trying to impress the media with their classy clothes and expensive outfits, Beckham will show up in jeans and a sweater and be the highlight of fashion in a bizarre combination of retro fashion coupled with boy-next-door appeal and an edgy vibe that makes him as complicated as the sport he plays.
The sunglasses David Beckham chooses are Police– the bold and daring new look that mixes a variety of styles and cutting edge technology to produce a unisex collection of sunglasses that are sure to be the ‘coolest’ shades you will find. Police sunglasses are light weight and well known for the wraparound lenses that come in varying colour shades such as the classic green, black, grey, and brown. Police sunglasses offer both full frame and rimless frames, appealing to every kind of fashion desire. They also use polarization technology on some of their sunglasses, preventing harmful and frustrating glare.
As a public figure under constant scrutiny, Beckham had the choice to back any product with his name and creative look. David Beckham is a model for Police because of its intrinsic style, and the statement the shades make. Police sunglasses are top-notch shades, whether for sporting, modeling, or everyday use, and are worn by such celebs as Antonio Bandares, Bruce Willis and now David Beckham.

Best Sunglasses Styles for Men and Women
Filed Under Brand Wave, Designer Sunglasses | View Comments
While women prefer the large, circular sunglasses (Fendi, for example) that make their noses and chins appear smaller and more feminine, men are generally drawn to the smaller, rectangular shaped frames (like Police) with darker lenses. Obviously, there are exceptions, but most of the time these male vs female trends are solid. Squares are more masculine and rigid while circles appear more feminine and carefree. Men look better in sunglasses like Porsche, with the thin earpieces and small lenses. Leave the thick bands and over the top designs for the women. The simpler the sunglasses, the better they look on men. Meanwhile, women are drawn to more elaborate and creative, often risky patterns, shapes and designs.
Women, because of their willingness to express themselves through accessories, have a much wider selection of frames. They look good in oversized sunglasses with extravagant colors and designs, but can also pull of their circular style in a professional way with smaller, wire frame frames. In 2009 we expect to see more celebrity women wearing the large frames like Fendi, as they are currently evolving from a celebrity fad to a laymen’s must-have. The stars use bright colors and elaborate frames to draw more attention to themselves. Women have always had the need to show off with their accessories, and sunglasses are the most noticeable accessory. As women become more powerful and dominant in society, the glasses will, over time, become more rigid and square.
The best choice for a man is to go with smaller sunglasses to have a more serious look instead of the over opulent vibe given off by the larger, round frames. Less is more in men’s fashion, and adds a sense of the mysterious and a lure of danger. Not many men can even pull off the large, round frames. The best brands for a manly man in need of larger frames are the ever-classic Ray Ban collections or the emerging Police collections.
